Joiner Marriage Index Blog

Somewhat belatedly here are the details of the updates to the West Riding of Yorkshire in the Joiner Marriage Index. I can only apologise for not writing this brief article earlier but work has been a touch busy of late. The update was fully implemented on the 28th December and I hope that it has already proved useful for some of our customers. Thank you for your patience.

We added 11,749 marriage records to the Joiner Marriage Index for the West Riding of Yorkshire, which was a mixture of updates to five of the parishes and the addition of two new parishes, namely East Ardsley and Woodkirk. The details of the updates are:

New parishes:

East Ardsley with 126 marriage records between 1813 and 1837
Woodkirk with 260 marriage records between 1813 and 1837

Existing parishes:

Almondbury with 4806 marriage records between 1813 and 1837
Kirkburton with 2515 marriage records between 1813 and 1837
Rothwell with 3077 marriage records between 1813 and 1837
Sandal Magna with 310 marriage records between 1832 and 1837
Tickhill with 655 marriage records between 1772 and 1837

This takes the total to 253,903 marriage records in 146 parishes in the West Riding of Yorkshire and 2,227,589 marriage records in 3,186 parishes in 26 counties for the whole of the online part of the Joiner Marriage Index. Also belatedly we would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year for 2012, and hope that we continue to be the leading online marriage index in our 6th year for the website!

We have just added 7,164 marriage records to the Joiner Marriage Index for the West Riding of Yorkshire including marriage records in 8 new parishes for the period 1813 – 1837 and updates to 7 other parishes. The new parishes are:

Badsworth with 121 marriage records.
Featherstone with 186 marriage records.
South Kirkby with 219 marriage records.
Cawthorne with 242 marriage records.
Silkstone with 1928 marriage records.
Penistone with 973 marriage records.
Normanton with 96 marriage records.
Warmfield with 129 marriage records.

This takes the total to 242,154 marriage records in 144 parishes in the West Riding of Yorkshire and 2,215,840 marriage records in 3,184 parishes in 26 counties in the online part of the Joiner Marriage Index.

We have just added the marriage records from 11 new parishes to the Joiner Marriage Index for the West Riding of Yorkshire for the period 1813 to 1837. Some corrections and additions have also been applied to the marriage records for 14 of the other parishes to also fill out the period 1813 to 1837. There will be more parishes to follow but for now the parishes to which we have added marriage records are:

Bardsey with 46 marriage records.
Brotherton with 339 marriage records.
Castleford with 167 marriage records.
Ferry Fryston with 103 marriage records.
Kellington with 256 marriage records.

This takes the total to 234,990 marriage records in 136 parishes in the West Riding of Yorkshire and 2,208,676 marriage records in 3,176 parishes in 26 counties in the online part of the Joiner Marriage Index.

We have just added 5,256 new marriage records to the Joiner Marriage Index for Norfolk which includes 48 new parishes and some updated data for 15 of our other parishes. The new parishes just added are:

This now completes the Joiner Marriage Index coverage for the years 1813 to 1837 in Norfolk apart from the parishes within Norwich itself which will follow in the next few weeks. The Joiner Marriage Index now truly is the best and only searchable index for marriage records in Norfolk, no other online resource comes close to offering the data that we do.

This addition takes the total for Norfolk to 117,886 marriage records in 578 parishes between 1538 and 1837 and the total for the Joiner Marriage Index to 2,201,203 marriage records in 3,165 parishes in 26 counties.

In the coming weeks more marriage records will be added from the parish registers for Norfolk and this will define the Joiner Marriage Index as the only searchable index for marriage records before 1837 in Norfolk. Please check back for our updates.
