Will of William JOYNER of Hitchin, HRT, Wheelwright 1742(1)

I William JOYNER of Preston in the parish of Hitchin in the County of
Hertford wheelwright being of sound and perfect mind and memory (praised
be God for the same) Do make and Ordain this my last will and Testament in manner
following (that is to say) FIRST I give and devise unto my loving wife and her
assigns one annuity of forty shillings a year of Lawful mony of Great
Brittain to be issuing and payable to her and her assigns every year by two half
yearly payments at Lady Day and Michaelmas clear of all taxes and 
Deductions during her natural life if she shall Continue my widow, Out of all those
my four acres and an half by estimation be the same more or less of freehold
arable land with the appurtenances laying and being in Ivingdon in the 
said parish of Hitchin And also out of all that my one acre by estimation of
freehold arable land lying and being in Pageant field in the parish
of Ippollitts in the County of Hertford the first of the said payments to be made
on that of the said Days of payment as shall first happen next after my
decease And I do hereby give and devise all singular my said freehold land so
charged aforesaid unto my eldest son William JOYNER
for ever, to whom my will is that my copyhold land in the Mannor of Maydencroft
shall descend Also I do give and devise unto my son Joseph JOYNER and his heirs all that
copyhold close of land called Bennets lying within the Mannor of
Temple Dinsley and containing by Estimation four acres and now in my
own occupation subject nevertheless on condition notwithstanding
that he my said son Joseph JOYNER do and shall well and truly pay
unto the said Anne my wife thereout one annuity of twenty shillings a year of lawful mony
of Great Brittain to be issuing and payable to her and her assigns every year by 
two half yearly payments at Lady Day and Michaelmas clear of all taxes
during her natural life and also if the said Joseph JOYNER my son do and 
shall well truly pay or cause to be paid thereout unto my three sons
Samuel Thomas and James JOYNER the several and respective payments of twenty
pounds apiece of lawful mony of Great Brittain when they shall severally attain
their several ages of one and twenty years or days of
Marriage which shall first happen And I do hereby charge and make
chargeable the said close called Bennets with the payment of the said
last mentioned annuity and Legacys I also give & devise unto my said 
wife one other Annuity of Thirty shillings of lawful mony of Great Brittain to be
issuing and payable to her every year on the days of payment aforesaid
clear of all Taxes and deductions during her natural life Out of all that
my Copyhold Messuage Cottage or Tenement and Orchard with the
appurtenances holden of the Mannor aforesaid and Scituate at Preston 
Green in the said Parish of Hitchin and now in the occupation of 
Thomas WHITE and I do hereby give and devise all that my said copyhold Messuage 
Cottage or Tenement and Orchard with the appurtenances unto my 
son John JOYNER and to his heirs and assigns for ever Also I give
and devise unto my said wife one other annuity of Three pounds a year of
like money to be issuing and payable to her every year on the days of payment 
aforesaid clear of all Taxes and deductions whatsoever Out of all that my Messuage
Cottage or Tenement with the appurtenances wherein I now dwell and out of
all that my Orchard thereto belonging situate & being at Preston Green
aforesaid in the said parish of Hitchin part thereof being Copyhold of the said
Mannor of Temple Dinsley otherwise Dionisley And the other part thereof
being Freehold and so charged as aforesaid I do give and Devise all that my
(one line lost in fold)
unto my son Daniel JOYNER and to his heirs and assigns for ever Also I give
and devise unto my said wife one other annuity of Twenty Shillings a year
of like money to be issuing and payable to her every year on the days of 
payment aforesaid clear of all Taxes and deductions  whatsoever Out of all
my stock in trade of a wheelwright and my utensils and tools belonging
thereto And I do hereby give and bequeath my said stock in trade
of a wheelwright & my utensils & tools belonging thereto unto my son
Stephen JOYNER And also All the rest and residue of my mony goods chattles and
personal estate I give and bequeath unto my said loving wife Anne (she 
paying thereout my debts & funeral expenses)
I also make and appoint my said wife and my said son
Stephen JOYNER Executors of this my last will and Testament
hereby revoking all former wills by me made In witness whereof I have
hereunto sett my hand and seal the tenth day of June in the Fourteenth
Year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second Over Great Brittain
and in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and forty two.
